The speaking module at a glance
The speaking part of the ÖIF Integrationsprüfung B1 takes about 16 minutes and has three sections: talk about yourself, talk about experiences based on a picture, and plan something together with your partner.
It is scored out of 100 points; you pass from 75. Task achievement, pronunciation, fluency, accuracy and vocabulary are assessed – what counts most is that you really complete the task.
Which tasks come up?
Part 1 – Talk about yourself
Introduce yourself (name, origin, where you live, work, family) and answer follow-up questions.
Part 2 – Talk about experiences
Briefly describe a picture and tell about your own experiences with the topic.
Part 3 – Plan together
Plan something with your partner: make suggestions, respond and reach an agreement.
How to pass speaking for sure
Speaking is a matter of practice. Four things help:
- Practise out loud – not just in your head
- In part 3, actively make suggestions and respond to your partner
- Better simple and fluent than complicated and halting
- Have useful phrases ready – “I suggest …”, “How about …?”
