The listening module at a glance
The listening part of the ÖIF Integrationsprüfung B1 takes about 25 minutes and has 20 tasks in four parts. You hear announcements, radio information, conversations and opinions on a topic. Important: you hear each text only ONCE.
Listening and reading are scored together – for B1 you need 33 of 45 points. Reading the tasks in advance and knowing what to listen for saves points.
Which tasks come up?
Part 1 – Announcements
Four short announcements, e.g. on the phone or in a shop. Each with a question and three answers.
Part 2 – Radio info
Five short pieces of radio information – weather, traffic, events. One question each.
Part 3 – Conversations
Four conversations, each with a true/false statement and a multiple-choice question.
Part 4 – Opinions
Three people give their opinion on a topic – you match the right sentences.
How to score the most in listening
Because you hear each text only once, preparation in the reading pause counts. Four things help:
- Read the tasks in the pause – you know what to listen for
- Watch for numbers, times and places – they are often asked
- If you miss an answer, move on at once – don’t get stuck
- Practise with real audio that plays only once
